Greetings Site Supervisors!
The purpose of this document is to acquaint you with the master's program in School Counseling
offered by the University of Virginia Counselor Education program. Our Counselor Education
program in School Counseling is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and
Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and is designed to meet the academic and internship
requirements established by the Commonwealth of Virginia State Department of Education for
licensure as preK-12 school counselors. In addition, our program exceeds the minimum requirements
of these licensing and accrediting bodies by providing education and training opportunities that we,
along with practicing school counselors and directors, have found beneficial to entry-level school
counselors.
Your feedback about the usefulness, thoroughness, and clarity of this handbook is most welcomed.
