Summary: Science Foundation Year
Whoisthecoursefor?
The Science Foundation Year is a one year course providing a rapid
introduction to biology, chemistry, and mathematics, which will
prepare you for your chosen undergraduate degree.
The course is designed to provide access to many Science degrees at the
University of Southampton. It is for capable motivated students who have not
taken the typical A Level route so do not have the necessary entry qualifications
for direct entry to a degree, or those who have A levels or equivalent in non-
science subjects.
It may suit you if you are:
- a capable student studying inappropriate A levels
- a suitably experienced mature applicant
- a capable student studying a BTEC National or other vocational
award who has not yet reached the high grades required for direct entry to
our degree courses
- a student from a region or country where the educational philosophy
is different from that of A level education
The course is delivered at Eastleigh College in Partnership with the University
of Southampton. You will be taught by specialist staff who have research
