at the University of Regina
The University of Regina demonstrates national leadership in public safety, security and
social justice. It reflects our partnerships with a number of policy-forming organizations,
including the Canadian Police Research Centre and the Saskatchewan Police College,
and builds on our traditional strengths in social policy innovation. For these reasons,
public safety, security and social justice was identified as one of our strategic research
thematic areas in 2000.
Building upon decades of research through the University, our public safety, security and
social justice scholars have conducted both micro- and macro-analysis, focusing on the
individual, the community, and the national and international perspective. Our internationally-
recognized researchers offer expertise on corporate and fiscal policy, organizational behaviour,
contemporary political philosophy and political ideologies, ethics and privacy issues, immigration, human
rights, and broad issues of economic, social and political development. These activities are reflected in
a number of our Faculties including Arts, Business Administration, Education, Fine Arts, Social Work and
Science. In addition, our Canada Research Chairs and Law Foundation of Saskatchewan
Chair in Police Studies complement these activities to position our University at the forefront
of public safety, security and social justice research.
