What is Global Health?
Global health applies public health principles to solutions of health problems that transcend national boundaries.
Our Mission
The Center for Global Health, located within the College of Public Health at the University of Georgia, seeks to identify best
practices of health care throughout the world, to support their dissemination, adaption, and then their adoption throughout the
world, in order to improve health care for all.
Educational Objectives for the Graduate Certificate in Global Health
Increase understanding of the global character of health problems
Demonstrate the need for a multi-disciplinary approach to solving global health problems
Develop skills that enable efforts to address global health problems
Develop knowledge that will assist in advocacy for the solution of global health problems
The Certificate program, offered by the College of Public Health, is designed to equip graduate students with the basic skills
necessary to function effectively in global health practice. Recognizing the critical role of multi-disciplinary education in
global health, electives and internships will be expected by student involvement with various other colleges and schools of
the University. Examples of collaborating schools and colleges include:
