Abstract. The UV spectral lines formed at transition re­
gion temperatures in the solar atmosphere, shows a pre­
vailing redshifted emission. Using the Solar Ultraviolet
Measurements of Emitted Radiation spectrometer flown
on the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory spacecraft, we
