Monolayer molybdenum disulfide
(MoS2),[1]
a 2D crystal with a direct
bandgap, is a promising candidate for 2D
nanoelectronic devices complementing
graphene,[2]
receiving increasing atten-
tion due to their potential for a range
of applications.[3]
Unlike conductive
graphene and insulating hexagonal boron
nitride (h-BN),[4] atomic-layered MoS2
is a semiconductor material with a direct
bandgap, offering possibilities of fabri-
cating high-performance devices with low
power consumption in a more straight-
forward manner.[3a] There have been
recent attempts to produce MoS2 layers
via chemical and mechanical exfoliation
