INTRODUCTION
Welcome to UCSD/Sharp BMT Program. Our goal is to provide you with an education
manual that will be a resource and tool to help you and your family throughout the
transplant experience. The content of this manual is designed to provide material on the
transplant process, general information about medical procedures, supportive care and
possible problems that might occur.
The Moores UCSD Cancer Center is an NCIdesignated Cancer Center with a unique
opportunity to provide specialized benchtobedside personal care. An NCI or
National Cancer Institute designation confirms that the Moores UCSD Cancer Center
has established itself as a leader in cancer research and treatment. We are the only
NCIdesignated Cancer Center in San Diego.
