Abstract - This paper presents a method for enhancing
photo-realistic models by creating a new multi-
resolution representation of models for use during
display. From the original model, a lower resolution is
calculated by collapsing an edge that connects two
vertices in the model. The edge collapsing process is
controlled in a pattern space. This process can be
extended to take into account any information. This
process computes the edge lengths in the feature space
throughout the model and collapses the shortest edge to
