In a recent column in IEEE Software Tom DeMarco
provocatively asks whether software engineering is past its prime
["Software Engineering: An Idea Whose Time Has Come and
Gone?", Tom DeMarco, IEEE Software July/August 2009].
There appears to be a disconnect between the substance of this
article and its title, which may be interpreted by a casual reader as
implying the demise of the discipline of software engineering.
