Through the University of Virginia's Central Virginia Writing Project
During the Young Author's one week institute at St. Christopher's School, rising 3rd
-
5th
grade students will take their writing to new levels as they create a variety
of traditional and new technology texts using a diverse set of tools to include Voice
Thread, blogs, and wikis. Each day the young writers will have the opportunity to benefit
from expert and personalized instruction, write on topics of their choice, conference with
teachers and peers, and work towards the construction of a writing portfolio. We will
culminate our week with an Author's Celebration in which the young writers will share their
writing portfolio with parents and friends and reflect upon their growth. The Young
Author's Institute provides the creativity and support to launch the reluctant writer into
the joys of writing and catapult the strong writer to the next level.
