Summary: A SECURE PROTOCOL FOR VOICE-OPERATED
E-COMMERCE SYSTEMS OVER IP NETWORKS

Abstract: There is an emerging interest in using voice-based communica-
tions over the Internet as a means for building stronger relationships among
di erent business partners (e.g., customers, suppliers, retailers, . . . ). In this
paper, we present a protocol that enables secure transmission of voice-based
communications over the Internet. This protocol provides a real opportunity
to build a secure voice-based communication service delivery infrastructure to
be used in both business-to-customer and business-to-business markets. We
carried out a performance and security analysis of the proposed protocol whose
nal results con rm that secure vocal services may be pro tably developed for
e-commerce systems which may improve both the
exibility and the reliability
of commercial transactions over the Internet.
