yond the classroom, and that a significant element of educational
value is derived from living in a community of students.
To this end, the goal of the Housing Division is to provide
resident students with an environment conducive to the attainment
of academic goals, and one that supports maximum realization of
social, intellectual, cultural, and interpersonal enrichment.
Resident Staff members live in the residence houses and apart-
ments to assist you and the University in achieving these mutual
goals. Please become acquainted with the staff in your building
immediately, and seek their services when you desire help, advice,
or information.
This informational newsletter will be published several times this
year. You will be alerted when it is posted to the website
www.virginia.edu/housing. I encourage your comments and
suggestions. I hope you will consider the experience of living on
Grounds a valued part of your overall education.
On behalf of the Housing Division Staff, I welcome you and wish
