Committee Charge
· Address the outstanding VLPA & I&S policy issue from the last ABET review
· Share best practices
The ABET Review process was briefly discussed, identifying the following 4 key words in an
evaluation:
Observation
Concern
Weakness
Deficiency
Program observations are largely neutral
A concern means a problem that could become worse, and lead to a weakness. Concerns must
be addressed in the next report.
A weakness can be best described as "barely crawled over the bar". An identified weakness will
mean a visit to the affected department, or an interim report.
It was also pointed out a program cannot go from fully accredited to not accredited in one step.
