Summary: James E. Hoffman
Jim Hoffman served as president of Alliant Energy
Resources, the nonregulated holding company of
Alliant Energy, and executive vice president of
Alliant Energy Business Development 1998 until his
retirement in 2005.
Hoffman joined Alliant Energy's predecessor
company, IES Utilities, in 1995 as the executive vice
president of Customer Service, Marketing, and
Energy Delivery. In 1996 he was named executive
vice president of IES Utilities.
In his position as president of the nonregulated
holding company, Hoffman provided executive oversight in international
investments, industrial services, and a variety of other subsidiaries and ventures.
Hoffman brought a wealth of utility industry and business experience with him to
Alliant Energy, having held a series of executive-level positions in the
telecommunications industry between 1986 and 1995.
He worked for MCI Communications Corporation, Telecom USA, and
Teleconnect Company. Respectively, he held positions as chief information
officer and senior vice president in the areas of system engineering, system
