Summary: GENE 8600 GENETICS SEMINAR
Description: Seminars emphasizing advances in genetics, molecular genetics,
and molecular biology.
Students will gain experience in reading and presenting the primary literature in
genetics, molecular genetics, and molecular biology. Evaluations will be based
on individual presentations of research papers and participation in class
discussion of those papers. Students attending this course will gain an in-depth
knowledge of current concepts in genetics and an improved ability to assess the
strengths and weaknesses of experimental support for these concepts.
Seminars in which students read and present primary research papers authored
by genetics departmental seminar speakers in advance of the speaker's talk.
Students will also attend a post-seminar discussion with the seminar speaker.
The course syllabus is a general plan for the course; deviations announced to the
course by the instructor may be necessary.
