The meeting was called to order at 3:30 pm in room 248 of the Student Learning Center, Joe
Hermanowicz presiding.
Members present: Yuri Balashov, J. P. Caillaut, Wayne Coppins, Charles Doyle, Kelly Dyer, Mario
Erasmo, Ray Freeman-Lynde, Shane Hamilton, Joe Hermanowicz, Charles Hopkinson, Thomas
Houser, Roy Kennedy, Kristen Kundert-Gibbs, John Lynch, Ron Miller, Mori Masaki, Kanzo
Nakayama, Ron Orlando, Diana Ranson, Dawn Robinson, Paul Schliekelman, Marshall Shepherd,
Eric Stabb, Roger Stahl, Bram Tucker, Shuzhou Wang, Mark Wheeler.
Proxies: Steven Grossvogel for Batina Kaplan; Mark Farmer for Edward Kipreos; Shelby Funk for

Approval of the minutes from the Aug 26 meeting: Shane Hamilton moved, Dawn Robinson
seconded. Unanimously approved.
Presiding officer Joe Hermanowicz's remarks:
1. Clarification on foreign teaching assistants' minimum TOEFL scores (suite from last meeting's
motion): foreign graduate students serving as teaching assistants who have not met minimal TOEFL
