Summary: Capturing Video Using the SONY GV-HD700 Cassette Deck
In the AV Production Room (Room 261), Mann Library has a SONY GV-HD700 Digital HD Video
Cassette Deck. It is attached to the left side Mac Pro Creation Station, and can be used to "capture", or
convert video from miniDV tapes to digital files.
1. If necessary, open cassette deck by sliding the latch right
2. Slide the Eject button right (on lower left of control panel)
3. Slide tape in, top up, tape side facing in
4. Close tray
5. Turn deck on, by holding down the green dot in the center of the power button (upper right of
panel), then sliding switch right.
Using iMovie:
1. Start application
2. Import from: HDV-VCR window should open if deck on. If not, select Import from Camera from
File menu
3. To import entire tape,
a. slide switch in Import window to Automatic, then click Import
b. name clip, click OK
4. To import selected segments,
a. slide switch to Manual,
b. cue tape using controls on deck or Import window,
