Summary: News & Notes November 5, 2007
In October, Franz Anton Krager conducted four
concerts with two English orchestras in the United
Kingdom. Mr. Krager conducted the Orchestra da
Camera in Birmingham in the Adrian Boult Hall
(Birmingham Conservatoire) for the Orchestra's 50th
Birthday Concert. Mr. Krager conducted the
Chetham's Symphony Orchestra on a concert tour
which included performances in Lancaster, Selby, and
Rochdale.
Andrew Davis and Howard Pollack's article on
"Rotational Form in the Opening Scene of Gershwin's
Porgy and Bess" was recently published in the Journal
of the American Musicological Society. One reviewer
has already said the article "may well have a real
impact on future performances" of Porgy and Bess.
Andrew Davis recently lectured at the 6th European
Music Analysis Conference in Freiburg, Germany, on
"Structural Symmetry In Hofmannsthal's Ariadne Auf
Naxos Libretto." The talk included some of the work
