Conference Announcement One Day Research Student Conference

Summary: Conference Announcement
One Day Research Student Conference:
Human Behaviour and Climate Change
Tuesday 21st
September 2010, School of Psychology, Cardiff University
There is little doubt now that the activities of humans are largely responsible for climate change,
and that if left unchecked this will lead to catastrophic impacts across the globe. If we are to have
any hope of avoiding dangerous climate change insights from the psychological and other social
sciences must be brought to bear to help us understand attitudes, social practices and perceptions
relating to climate change, as well barriers to radical individual and societal changes.
This one day Research Conference is open to PhD students from a range of disciplines working
broadly in the area of human behaviour and climate change. It will incorporate keynote talks with
student-led presentations. Aimed primarily at those working on aspects of climate perceptions,
attitudes and behaviour we nonetheless encourage contributions from students working on human
aspects of climate change in interdisciplinary or related fields such as human geography,
environmental sciences and environmental sociology. The conference will provide an opportunity
to discuss cutting edge theoretical, methodological and policy issues as well as to network with
peers working on climate change. Attendees, especially those in their 2
and final years of PhD
