The use of geometric principles of symmetry for the description and understanding of
decorated forms represented the union of two normally separate disciplines-mathematics
and designs. The only limitation to the types of designs that can be described by these
principles is that they must consist of regularly repeated patterns. In this paper, we will
see how to use the geometric principles of crystallography to develop a descriptive
