The Department of Middle Eastern and South Asian Languages and Cultures
(MESALC) at the University of Virginia invites applications for a full-time lecturer
position in Hindi-Urdu language instruction. The position will begin in August
2012. This position is a three-year position, eligible for renewal contingent upon
highly satisfactory performance. This position carries a teaching load of three
classes per semester.

Candidates must hold an advanced degree in a South Asia-related field or in
Language Pedagogy. Candidates must possess native or near-native proficiency in
Hindi and/or Urdu, and must demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in both the
Hindi and Urdu scripts. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated
ability in producing proficiency- and authentic materials-based curricula. Previous
language teaching experience at the university level is highly desired.
