Alumnus Profile
Dr. Ruben Stranders completed his BSc and MSc in Computer Science at
Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands. After graduating
Ruben felt his "curiosity hadn't been satisfied" and began looking for
postgraduate research positions in multi-agent systems (or "systems in
which multiple Artificial Intelligences work together to solve a common
problem"). He had previously been awarded a national prize for best
Computer Science MSc thesis by the Royal Holland Society of Sciences
and Humanities in the same topic. Describing the Intelligence Agents and
Multimedia (IAM) Group in the School of Electronics and Computer
Science at the university, as "the group in Europe" he applied for a
position advertised by its head, Professor Nick Jennings, on an email
mailing list. After visiting the UK for an interview he was offered the
position, and began his candidature in 2007.
Ruben's research was part of the larger ALADDIN project, which is funded
by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and
