Summary: TheGatewaytoEmploymentProject
Swansea University and the Welsh Assembly Government co-hosted a European Conference entitled "Enhancing
European Employability" in 2006. The University's "Gateway to Employment" initiative draws from the key priorities
and recommendations of that conference, which also formed the basis of a number of Bologna developments over the
last six years.
The "Gateway to Employment" offers students opportunities to enhance their employability prospects by providing details
of their academic and extracurricular achievements, as well as their awards, to prospective employers, electronically. It has
two key components, namely, the production of an electronic Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) and, secondly,
the Gradintel software a virtual platform through which students can make their HEAR and other elements of their personal
profile accessible electronically to prospective employers.
Swansea University is, potentially, the only university in the UK to provide students with a Diploma Supplement and an
electronic HEAR which, respectively, comply with the requirements of the European Commission and the UK Higher
Education sector.
The Higher Education Achievement
Report (HEAR)
The Higher Education Achievement Report provides a single,
comprehensive record of a student's achievements, in a
format applied throughout the UK. It is based on the globally
recognised Diploma Supplement. It aims to ensure that any
student or employer can better understand the achievements
