Several UH organ majors have recently been
appointed as organist for major Houston
churches, including DMA student Jason Farris
at Tallowood Baptist, Masters student Dan Fenn
at Grace Presbyterian, and DMA student Jon
Wohlers at Christ the King Lutheran.
On Sept. 19, DMA student Riyehee Hong
performed the dedication concert on a new Van
Beckerath organ in Los Angeles.
This fall, Professor of Organ, Robert Bates, will
perform solo recitals on new organs at Princeton
Theological Center in Princeton and Vassar
College in New York; he will conduct workshops
at the National Pedagogy Conference of the
American Guild of Organists, to be held this year
in Denton, Texas. Dr. Bates is currently teaching
for the Houston Seminar and preparing a book
