DRAFT STATEMENT FROM ABET
The Draft Statements were distributed to ACI members today. ABET acknowledged ChemE's and Civil's 7-day
responses to weaknesses in their programs. But, ABET considers the weaknesses unresolved. One of IndE's
"concerns" on the Program Audit form was changed to a "weakness" in the Draft Statement. Richard wants
confirmation that this is not a mistake. He will draft an inquiry for Eve to send to Carl Locke.
Martin thinks that the statement for EE about secondary assessment processes may not have been on the Program
Audit form. Tim Larson asked for input on assessment of educational objectives and assessing your peers. Examples
of what other departments are doing were given.
Departments can ask for help with their arguments by emailing ACI. Departments should ask for help from
colleagues. Karen is available to help with writing. Janice will send sample responses from 2002 and ABET's final
statement for the sample responses to the group. Eve emailed, to ACI members, a sample of Biomedical Engineering
at the University of Michigan's Draft Statement and their response to the Draft Statement.
Janice will send the group a timetable for their 30-day responses. The timetable will include time for Eve and Matt
