Objectives: This course provides an overview of several areas of the law that relate to business
in Canada. The objective of the course is to provide students with procedural and
substantive framework in order to enhance students' ability to recognize and
analyze legal issues and risks that they may face in their career.
Text: Smyth, Soberman and Easson, The Law and Business Administration in Canada, 12th
edition. NO OTHER EDITIONS ARE ACCEPTABLE.
Other Materials: I will send a copy of the Power Point slides by way of UR Courses before each
lecture. You may find it useful to print the slides to help you make notes in class.
Evaluation: Midterm Exam (2 hours) 35% Based on lectures 1 to 4
Final Exam (3 hours) 55% Comprehensive (all lectures)
Attendance/participation 5%
Pop Quizzes 5% Unscheduled various subjects
