Title: Exploration of funding opportunities for the advancement of Faculty Research
Please join the Alumni Affairs & Development Office of Foundation Relations on May 21, 2009
at 12:00 noon (300 Rice Hall) to hear about potential Foundation funding opportunities. In
support of our efforts to enhance the partnership with faculty and administrators from across the
University, our goal is to provide a forum in which to share updates and to facilitate a discussion
around potential foundation funding opportunities, including the recent announcement (May
2009) by the Gates Foundation to commit $73 Million to improve Agriculture in Poor Nations,
The Basic Research to Enable Agricultural Development (BREAD) Program and other potential
new funding sources.
Resulting from a newly formed partnership between the National Science Foundation, and the
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the BREAD program will support basic research to build a
