Museum Associates Program For nearly twenty five years, the Williams College Museum of Art's volunteer Museum Associates

Summary: Museum Associates Program
For nearly twenty five years, the Williams College Museum of Art's volunteer Museum Associates
program has provided opportunities for Williams College students to broaden their knowledge of art
and art history, learn about museum education, and develop valuable public speaking and teaching
skills.
Museum Associates (MAs) are an important part of the museum and play a critical role in our
education programs. In addition to leading visitors on tours of the museum's special exhibitions and
permanent collection, Museum Associates also help teach our programs for children and families. As
a Museum Associate, you'll gain inside access to a lively museum with an exciting exhibition
schedule and have the opportunity to work with museum staff, discuss exhibitions with curators,
and learn about contemporary art from visiting artists. For students who are interested in art,
teaching, and museums, this experience is invaluable. Museum Associates have gone on to
outstanding internships at museums and teaching positions around the world.
Although many Museum Associates are art majors, this is not a requirement. What is most
important is your desire to communicate your enthusiasm and knowledge of art to others. You
should also be interested in working with a range of audiences, especially children. WCMA offers
education programs for preschoolers; elementary, middle, and high school students; college
students; families; and adults. See www.wcma.org for information on our education programs.
Museum Associates must make a time commitment of four hours per week. All Museum Associates
are required to attend a ninety-minute training session each Wednesday from 4:00 to 5:30. This
