Summary: President's Message September 2010
With the start of the fall semester upon us, I would like to extend a sincere welcome to everyone
on campus. To those of you who are returning to school or work following a summer break
welcome back. To those who are new to campus I hope you will find this to be an inclusive,
friendly place. To those who worked on campus all summer, thank you!
September is one of my favourite times at the University of Regina. The campus is buzzing with
excitement as we begin a new school year. Our staff have been busy preparing campus for the
arrival of our students, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for everything
theydo to promote the success of our students. Our faculty members and instructors are putting
the final touches on their fall courses, and I know they are excited to get back in the classroom
and to continue their different research projects. I had the opportunity to meet with many of our
new faculty members during the Summer Institute for New Facultyon August 30. I was
impressed by the enthusiasm being brought to the University, and I look forward to touching
base with new faculty members as we move forward together.
The year ahead is shaping up to be a unique and special one for the University of Regina. We
eagerly anticipate the commemoration activities set for the campus celebration in 2011, and the
continuation of our community outreach initiatives throughout the province. Additionally, we
are making significant progress with implementing our Strategic Plan launched only a year ago.
Work continues as we build our Faculty of Nursing in partnership with SIAST, progress evolves
with the Administrative/Organization Review and effort is underway withthe Academic Review
