Summary: Academic Coordinator - Renewable Energy Initiative
(Full Time 1 year Term)
UNBC is uniquely positioned to lead in research and academic training for the emerging field of renewable
energy systems design and management. The shift to greater reliance on place-based renewable energy
offers opportunities for increased multidisciplinary, community based research, collaboration with innovative
Northern BC renewable energy companies, and with first Nations communities.
The Academic Coordinator Renewable Energy Initiative will report to the President. S/he will assist
the President and Senior Management team, and work with internal and external partners to identify, plan,
coordinate, and manage research projects critical to the successful implementation of the Renewable
Energy Initiative. The Coordinator will work with UNBC and external partners in developing academic
curricula related to this initiative.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Work with the President, Provost, Vice Presidents and Deans to produce a road map of academic
and research projects required to move the Renewable Energy Initiative forward.
- Explore, identify and evaluate relevant to internal and external academic expertise and research.
Identify and evaluate both internal and external relevant to existing curricula, academic
programming and training.
- Work with appropriate internal and external academic leaders and industry experts to identify,
support and prioritize critical research projects.
