Image processing involves processing a vast
amount of data, and hence requires a large
amount of computing power. Multiprocessor
systems have been suggested as sources of large
amount of computing power. For efficient exe
cution of an algorithm in a multiprocessor sys
tem, the structure of the algorithm should mir
ror the architecture of the multiprocessor sys
