Geraldine Ong (studio of Nancy Weems) won the
South Central Division level of the Music Teach-
ers National Association (MTNA) Steinway Young
Artist Competition at Centenary College in
Shreveport, Louisiana on January 10. She
will compete at the national convention of
MTNA in Albuquerque, NM in March, 2010.
Jan Cornelius (MM, `05, Vocal Performance - stu-
dio of Katherine Ciesinski) was presented an
award at the Opera Index dinner and recital, to pro-
vide advocacy for opera and support for its art-
ists, at the Jumeirah Essex House in New York City
on January 10. Notable in attendance were Mar-
tina Arroyo and Licia Albanese, among others.
