Summary: Hello Graduate Faculty!
I hope your Fall 2010 semester is going very well. On behalf of the USF Graduate School I want
to invite you to visit our website at www.grad.usf.edu to learn about our several new initiatives
and programs. A few examples include streamlined electronic thesis and dissertation processing,
new student research and fellowship awards, new professional development courses and
workshops, new research and data reports, 30th anniversary events, new student policies, new
academic programs (MA in Global Sustainability) and soon-graduate faculty mentor awards. We
are very proud of our new School of Global Sustainability and Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.
A major goal of ours this year is to communicate much more directly with the graduate faculty
about our policies, procedures, and of course new developments. I have hosted faculty coffees
this year to learn of your needs and concerns and will continue this activity as it has been very
beneficial. We also invite you to all of our brown bag workshops and other educational forums to
keep informed.
Please know that while you are graduate faculty in your college and department you are also
graduate faculty of the Graduate School. Thank you for being our partner in helping to achieve
our mission of preparing present-day and future global leaders- one scholar at a time.
Please let us know how we can help you work successfully with your students to further advance
excellence in graduate education at USF.
Best wishes,
Karen D. Liller, Ph.D
