Amy Shen: Soft matter and micro-fluids laboratory, complex fluids, morphologies and
structures, nanotechnology, biotechnology, novel materials (biomaterials, nanomaterials).
Y. (Steve) Shen: vibration, dynamics, sensing, and actuation. (a) piezoelectric thin-film
devices (micro-actuators for hybrid cochlear implants and micro-sensors for totally
implantable cochlear prostheses.) and (b) spindle and rotor dynamics.
Alexander Veress: computational soft tissue and cardiacbiomechanics; finite element
modeling of the heart; organ function; combination of numerical analysis and clinical
imaging to study soft tissue mechanics in both the normal and pathological cases.
