2008-09 Progress Report
LETTER FROM
THE CHAIR
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We are pleased to report on the progress of the Department of
Pediatrics and Communicable Diseases at the University of Michigan.
In this report we provide updates on a number of key initiatives in
our clinical, research and educational programs.
In clinical care, significant advances are being made and include
the addition of programs such as: M-POWER the Michigan
Pediatric Outpatient Weight Evaluation and Reduction Program;
the Michigan Molecular Medicine and Genetics Laboratory; and the
Michigan Center for Disorders of Sex Development.
In research, new progress in the fields of cystic fibrosis, genetic
testing, and neurological disorders promise to improve care for
children. In addition, we recently launched the C.S. Mott Children's
Hospital National Poll on Children's Health to take the pulse of the
public on important issues. We are proud of the impact our health
