Professor Robert A. Weinberg is the Daniel
K. Ludwig and American Cancer Society
Professor for Cancer Research at the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the
institution where he received both
undergraduate (1964) and doctoral degrees
(1969) and to which he returned in 1972 as
a faculty member after postdoctoral
experience at the Weizmann Institute and
the Salk Institute. A decade later he was a
full professor and had won the Discover
magazine award as Scientist of the Year.
He is one of five founding members of the
Whitehead Institute of Biomedical Research.
Last November, he was named to head the
Ludwig Center for Molecular Oncology at
MIT established with a $20 million grant
from the Ludwig Fund.
