THE KINGSTON BRANCH
THE PADRE LAVERTY AWARD:
A CALL FOR 2012 NOMINATIONS
The Kingston Branch is seeking nominations for The Padre Laverty Award to recognize
outstanding contributions to Queen's University, or jointly to Queen's and the Kingston
community. Nominees, men or women, must be graduates of Queen's, but not
necessarily resident in Kingston.
THE AWARD
Inaugurated in 1967 as the Kingston Award, it was renamed The Padre Laverty Award in
1991 to commemorate the long and distinguished service of the first University
Chaplain, Padre A. Marshall Laverty to Queen's University and to the greater Kingston
community.
The Padre Laverty Award is presented by the Kingston Branch at The Padre Laverty and
Jim Bennett Achievement Awards Dinner which the Branch hosts annually in the spring.
The Nominations Committee, responsible for the selection of the award recipient whose
service best emulates that of Padre Laverty, is chaired by the current Past President of
the Kingston Branch and is comprised of past presidents and a representative from
Queen's Alumni Relations and Annual Giving Branch.
