Cornell consistently ranks as one of the leaders in alumni-based fundraising, however we remain
behind our peers as a beneficiary to the resources awarded by Foundations. With this in mind,
the Office of Foundation Relations is committed to building the pipeline of funding
opportunities, and proactively reaching out to faculty and partnering more closely to identify
(new) potential funding opportunities. This collaborative approach will provide the Office of
Foundation Relations with a deeper understanding of faculty research projects, enabling us to
better assist faculty in the development of more competitive proposals.
The lunch discussion acknowledgement the importance of regular, interactive communications
between Faculty and the Office of Foundation Relations regarding new foundation funding
opportunities and the cultivation of Foundation Program Officers through campus visits, and off-
campus meetings with faculty when possible. As an on-going effort to increase awards from
foundations in collaboration with faculty, the Office of Foundation Relations will (1) research
and share new Foundation funding opportunities; (2) work with the Director's of each respective
