Summary: JJaannee SScchhuuddeell
I was born in Lima, Ohio and graduated from Lima Senior High School. I attended Ohio
State University, receiving a B.S. Ed with a major in Mathematics and a minor in music
(flute). I was fortunate to have two outstanding math education professors there Dr.
Harold Fawcett and Dr. Nathan Shapiro, who were both excellent mathematicians and
inspiring teachers. We came to Regina in 1964, and since I was married to a music
professor, who was also a performing musician, I found music became my field also. I joined
the Regina Symphony in 1965 and retired in 2005. I have also taught flute privately, at
summer camps and clinics. I have played for Summer Stage, Lyric Light Opera, Globe
Theater, Saskatchewan Opera, and CBC.
I have found
that my
studies in
MATHEMATICS
have imposed
a discipline
that helps in
music. I was
able to
