INTRODUCTION
The last few years have witnessed a strong trend
of convergence in public switched telephone net-
works (PSTNs), integrated services digital net-
work (ISDN), and IP-based networks, resulting
in the bloom of IP telephony or voice over IP
(VoIP) applications. To reduce communication
costs, it is now a common practice to transport
voice over wide-area IP networks. However,
