We are scheduled for one 160-minute lecture plus one three-hour lab per week.
Lectures on Tuesday @ 5:35 PM - 8:25 PM in LSC C 236
Labs on Tuesday @ 8:35 AM - 11:25 AM; 11:35 AM -2:25PM; 2:35 PM - 5:25 PM and
Thursday @ 2:35 PM - 5:25 PM in LSC-BIOL&EARTH B5012
Office hours: Tuesday 4:30pm- 5:30 pm and Tuesday 8:30 pm- 9:30pm; office 2123 LSC
Three quizzes totaling 45% (15% each) and final lab exam (30%) cover subjects from lectures,
labs, and reading. The final lab exam is a comprehensive exam including all taxa from the
beginning of the course. The exam and quizzes include a wide variety of questions and problems,
some based on taxonomy of the organisms, many based on their anatomy, some based on their
functional biology, natural history, life cycles and host-parasite relationship, some based on
medical significance of parasites and drugs used to cure diseases caused by parasites.
Do not miss the exam. Any make-up exam (by prior arrangement or in dire emergency) consists
of a two hour oral examination covering the same general areas of the written exam.
The remainder of the semester grade is based on the laboratory work (20%) and presentation in
the class on species or taxonomic group of parasites (5%). Guidelines on keeping a notebook
