Abstract
We performed tests on CMS-HF calorimeter light guide system with two different types of reflecting
materials, Aluminized Mylar (AM) and High Efficiency Mirror (HEM) and with two different shapes,
straight and tapered. The results of these tests are the subject of this note.
1 Introduction
The HF calorimeter of the CMS detector is composed of an iron absorber with embedded quartz fibers and a optical
read-out system that is composed of photomultiplier tubes (PMT) and light guides. Due to both the HF location and
the operating conditions, light guides will be placed between the fiber bundles and the PMTs. This note presents
