Film Festival Overview
The Black Images in the Media Film Festival will be held in Houston, Texas April 13-16
2011 at the University Hilton Hotel on the campus of the University of Houston. It is
sponsored by the University of Houston Africana Studies Program and is a major activity
of the Black Images in the Media Symposium and Arts Festival that involves scholars
and other artists from across the country. Therefore this event provides a wonderful
opportunity for networking. Prizes for winners for each category are TBA.
Mission
The mission of the film festival is to provide a platform for African American
independent film makers to showcase their works in ways that depict positive black
images as well as a vehicle for industry professional and students entering the industry to
network.
Categories
The categories for submissions include short film, documentary, music video and feature
film
Submission Requirement
· Films must have been completed after September 1, 2009
· Must be submitted in DVD format ( Copy will not be returned)
