Advanced Technology for Sustainable Transportation
our mission is to develop engineering solutions (knowledge and technology) to transportation problems for the state of
Idaho, the Pacific Northwest, and the United States, and to prepare our students to be leaders in the design, deployment,
and operation of our nation's complex transportation systems.
Our vision is to be one of the premier transportation research and education programs in the United States.
· We are a national leader in developing technology to reduce congestion on arterials, improve the quality and economic
viability of biofuels, and reduce the environmental impacts and improve the fuel economy of motorized vehicles (includ-
ing passenger cars, transit vehicles, and recreational vehicles).
· NIATT faculty and students engage in multidisciplinary research to solve challenging, practical, and relevant transporta-
tion problems that have regional and national significance. We create interdisciplinary research and development teams
of undergraduate and graduate students, mentored by expert faculty. to ensure our work is relevant and responsive
