COURSE OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES
The course builds upon the financial accounting framework studied in BUS 285
Introduction to Financial Accounting. It develops the students' knowledge of Accounting
Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and International Financial Reporting
Standards (IFRS) through an in depth examination of recognition, measurement,
presentation and disclosure issues. Students will develop an awareness of the underlying
rationale for the accounting standards and an appreciation of the characteristics and
limitations of accounting.
