Summary: MATH 122B Introduction to the Theory of Complex Variables

Text: Complex Variables and Applications by Brown and Churchill, eighth
edition.
Materials to be Covered: Chapters 5, 6 and 7. We'll cover as many sec-
tions of these chapters as time allows.
Exams: One midterm (date to be announced) and the final.
Calculator and Notecard: Allowed on exams. Notecards should be up to
5 by 7 , double sided.
Homework: Homework is posted at Prof. Ye's webpage:
www.math.ucsb.edu/yer,
and collected at the beginning of each Wednesday's class. Each time, you
turn in the homework assigned for the previous week. Please write your name
on the front page of your homework. As a rule, late homework will not be
accepted.
Grading Scheme: Midterm 30%, Final 60%, Homework 10%.
