Queens Geography Explore Camp
Looking for a great job in Kingston this summer? Apply to Explore!
Explore is a non-profit, student-run initiative and is designed to excite children and youth about
geography and provide employment for undergraduate students at Queen's. Explore runs from May to
August and involves developing spring workshop programs and summer camp activities. In the months
of May and June, staff will adapt the Ontario curriculum for children and youth in grades K-8 for
workshop programs. In July and August Explore camp comes to life in an educational and interactive
summer day camp.
Explore's mandate is:
To encourage a sense of curiosity and wonder about the natural and human-made world. To develop an
interest in creating a sustainable environment for future generations. To foster an appreciation for the
diversity of the Canadian environment and culture. To instil in youth a sense of pride, self-esteem,
community and most importantly, a sense of identity within the local, national and global contexts. To
increase the breadth of understanding of geography amongst today's youth in a non-threatening and
stimulating environment. To provide Queen's students with challenging and rewarding leadership
opportunities in their field of study.
