Summary: News & Notes November 3, 2008
October 16-22, Matthew Dirst gave a lecture
and performed for the Eastman Rochester
Organ Initiative Festival and Conference and
was a featured speaker at the University of
North Texas Organ Conference. His paper at
Eastman was on continuo practice in the Bach
circle; at UNT he lectured on the cultural
significance of the organ music of J. S. Bach.
During the Eastman festival he also performed
two solo recitals on a new instrument by
Taylor & Boody in the style of David
Tannenburg, an 18th-century American organ
builder.
Abbey Simon performed at NPR and the
Hermitage Foundation in Los Angeles,
California.
