Anniversary History Project
(Full time Term to March 31, 2013)
This is a twelve month historical research position centered on the gathering and interpretation
of primary and secondary materials pertaining to the establishment and subsequent operation of
the University of Northern British Columbia.
Under the direct supervision of Dr. Jonathan Swainger, the successful candidate will be required
to undertake the following duties:
· Conduct oral history interviews of the university's founders, academic faculty, and staff;
· Review, interpret, and then provide clear and effective summaries of archival records
detailing the campaign for a northern university;
· Undertake independent newspaper and media research on UNBC's origins and
· Provide interpretative and practical support in the preparation of a proposed 125,000
word manuscript on UNBC's first 25 years.
The successful candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in History together with at least
