WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS IN ROBOTIC NETWORKS
INTRODUCTION
The recent emergence of small embedded-sens-
ing devices (also known as motes) will funda-
mentally change the way we approach many
scientific problems, some of them that were
totally intractable in the past. One such family of
scientific problems collectively is known as envi-
ronmental monitoring, in which scientists must
collect environmental data (e.g., temperature,
humidity, etc.) over long temporal and spatial
